Our client is seeking a Database Developer to be responsible for the planning, coordination, utilization, and administration of MS-SQL relational databases and other file organization and access methods. This position will report to the Applications Manager and be responsible for ensuring appropriate definition, organization, security, integrity, operational efficiency, scheduling, documentation of the databases, and assisting in data warehousing. The Administrator acts as the arbiter over the structure and contents of critical databases by establishing and ensuring compliance with rules, standards, and guidelines. This person should have an understanding of what a DBA role is.
The position will have the following responsibilities:
Ensures integrity for all data from all source systems.
Consults with users to identify and analyze reporting needs, including determining the best delivery channels, report design, and content.
Delivers various reports, notices, statements, and files to users, vendors, and members.
Provides ad hoc reports and files as requested for analytics and business intelligence.
Works closely with third-party vendors to develop data transfer procedures and automated interfaces.
Administers, tunes, optimizes, and maintains all SQL Server instances.
Provides guidance with respect to data warehousing best practices. Creates and modifies ETL processes to maintain warehouse.
Designs, develops, tests, and implements ETL processes using Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
Maintains detailed technical documentation relevant to position and activities.
Creates end user documentation when necessary.
Maintains relevant technical knowledge through continuing education.
Seeks ways to streamline work processes.
Position is located in Portland, OR. Local applicants preferred. Direct hire position.

Required Skills:
Bachelor of Arts in a related field with a minimum of 3 years experience.
Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job may be substituted for degree.
Strong software and analytical skills.
Data warehouse experience. Prefer experience from conception to implementation plus adding new source to a data warehouse.
Working knowledge of Visual Studio 2010/2012, Transact-SQL, SQL Server 2000/2005/2008/2012, Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), and Crystal Reports.
Working knowledge of SQL server administration and Internet information server functions.
Working knowledge of the design and development of data load packages using SSIS using SQL Server 20082012.
Project management skills with great attention to detail.
Ability to prioritize and complete multiple jobs simultaneously.
Ability to work both independently and in a team environment. Comfortable working with all levels of individuals.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in a credit union or financial institution.
Proficient with design and development of data load packages using Microsoft DTS using SQL Server 2000/2005.
Knowledge of MS Access, JavaScript, and XML.
Professional verbal and written communication skills.
Professional interpersonal skills and comfortable with frequent contact with employees and occasional contact with vendors and other outside resources.
