I’m looking for some help with a database related issue
I recently got a project to complete, and I’m trying to gather as much info as I can before start.
What I have to do is to link MS Access or Excel to an existing data in iCobol via ODBC. The company is using iCobol environment as a business data-storage etc. It s not a database in typical sense, so anyone trying to print a report is having issues finding what they want. My task is to link that data to MS Access or Excel so most of the office employees can have quick access to data and be able to easy format a report out of that data.
I’m planning to do this via ODBC driver I know that iCobol supports ODBC however I’m trying to find easiest way to link those two together. Do you have any experience with icobol would you have any suggestions. I did some research online and I understand basics of ODBC but is there anything I should watch out for ?
This will be done on Windows XP machines.
I know this is very broad question but any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
